London Travel Information

Here is our weekly travel update to help you get around London this weekend, 15/16 August. Most of the network will be open with services running as normal, but please check if any of the following affect you.

Potential Tube strikes

Certain Tube trade unions have announced strike action later this month. If it goes ahead, Tube services will be affected between Tuesday 25 and Friday 28 August. Staff on the bus network, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail, tram, Emirates Air Line, and River services will not be on strike.

London Underground
 
 
We are undertaking a comprehensive improvement programme across London’s transport network, including the modernisation of the Tube.For a map showing the planned line closures for this weekend and also bus replacement information, please click here

 

 

Victoria line
Until Sunday 30 August, there will be no service between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central and a reduced service on the rest of the line. This is while we renew the track layout at Walthamstow Central, which will allow us to run a more frequent service from next year.

 

 
 
 
London Overground
 
 
On Sunday, there will also be no service between Clapham Junction and Willesden Junction and Sydenham and West Croydon, due to Network Rail track and signalling work.On weekday mornings until Friday 28 August, trains will not stop at Clapton station and St James Street station will be exit only until 09:30, while we renew the track layout on the Victoria line at Walthamstow Central.

London Trams
 
 
From 22:00 on Saturday until 10:00 on Sunday, Trams will not run between Reeves Corner and East Croydon, due to work being carried out on behalf of the London Borough of Croydon.There is no service between Wimbledon and Dundonald Road until October 2015, while we construct an additional platform at Wimbledon.

 

 

 
 
 
Buses
 
 
Westminster – From 09:00 until 17:00 on Saturday, Whitehall, Victoria Street and roads in the St. James’s Park area will be closed for a ceremonial event. Buses may be diverted or stop short of their destination.

 
Blackwall Tunnel– There will be tunnel and lane closures each night for resurfacing work at the following times:
Lane closures between 23:00-05:00 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights this week
Tunnel closures between 23:00-05:00 from Sunday 16 until Thursday 20 August

During the tunnel closures, traffic will be able to travel northbound only. Buses may be diverted or stop short of their destination.

Swiss Cottage – Until late October, various lane restrictions are in place on A41 at Swiss Cottage for utility works. These include a two lane closure of the A41 section of Avenue Road, one lane closed on College Crescent on the approach to Avenue Road, and full closure of the B525 section of Avenue Road. Buses may be diverted or stop short of their destination.

Twickenham – From 17:00 until midnight on Saturday, the A316 will be closed between Hospital Bridge Road and Richmond Circus. This is due to an event at Twickenham Stadium. As a result, traffic levels are expected to increase in the Richmond, Kingston and Twickenham areas. Buses may be diverted or stop short of their destination. For more information, please click here

Westminster – From 07:00 on Monday until late September, lane closures will be in place from Parliament Square to the Victoria Street junction of Storey’s Gate. This is for utility works. Buses may be diverted or stop short of their destination.

Roads
